Healing through touch and meditation

Our earliest nonverbal experiences are deeply embedded in our bodies and have a lasting effect on our capacity for connection, intimacy, heart-fullness and love. Old joy as well as old wounds will show up on a bodily level and the latter can thankfully heal there.

For some of us the healing might only be facilitated through working with touch. At the same time touch is much more than an excellent tool for healing. It also is a direct reminder of the present moment and a doorway to being present. Here touch can become pure meditation.

Meditation which works with touch is sublime and blissful and a powerful path to the actuality of this moment. In the moment of touch deepest reconnection to our being can happen spontaneously and effortlessly. A deep nourishment is received almost miraculously. We so long for our core to be seen, felt, recognised and often only touch can be the Bridge into such a profound experience of recognition.

“Then with this connection and this intimacy, being held in such a way, and being so present, there was like an explosion in me. Yes, I really can’t explain it at all. I could have screamed, yes.”

Touch-meditation focuses on both the healing and the meditative aspects of touch. A simple massage structure called “Body-Healing-Massage”, supports you whether you are a professionally trained massage therapist or complete massage novice. It offers a space and structure to meditate and heal through touch.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How to start exploring Touch-Meditation/Body-Healing-Massage?

We offer one to one sessions for individuals. Here you can experience touch meditation for yourself exploring a deep connection through touch, both nourishing and healing. We are currently forming a group for practice evenings in which you can simply exchange “touch meditation”. (details below)

“It was very important for me to become aware of my needs and to notice that the more hurt there is, also different touch is needed. Sometimes a hold, sometimes a gentle touch.”
Is nakedness compulsory?

Only at birth. Being naked can or can not be part of a Touch-Meditation / Body-Healing-Massage session. At no point is it a fixed requirement. The only “requirement” from our point of view is for you to feel your individual needs and let those around you know.

Mostly people have very different feelings about nakedness and their specific needs or desires for touch. Our victorian and/or family heritage might also produce fear as we perceive our sometimes complex needs. Most of us have a huge potential for healing from our personal, parental and cultural histories.

How can I best care for my needs and boundaries in the exchanges?

Central to the format we work with is you being supported to specifically ask for what you want. When you receive a massage it is you who chooses your massage partner and it is you who chooses exactly what this partner – within their limits – does and facilitates you to experience. In this way, touch-meditation trains our ability to determine, honour and express our want in its full human complexity: our clear NO, inquisitive MAYBE, TELL ME MORE, or indeed our full hearted YES.

“Yes, I was deeply touched. On the outside, but much deeper even, inside, I’ve never had that and that was ….WOW! It was very moving. I cried during it and I think that it will have a long-lasting effect on me.”
And if I am the one who gives a massage?

As the person in an exchange giving a Touch Meditation /Body-Healing-Massage your needs and limits are naturally as important as those of the receiving partner. It would be counter productive for both if you, as the giving partner worked outside your individual limits. Learning to feel and commit to your limits in this relaxed setting is both fun and creates a sense of strength through connecting to your natural assertiveness.

Meditation in this context also means giving space and time for your needs to formulate themselves to the point where words expressing them naturally flow from your most inner experience. It is deeply satisfying to let go of the exhausting mind effort of “thinking your needs” but instead simply allowing your deepest truths to simply arise from within your body, clarifying whats right for you.
